At Oakdin, we offer surgical and non-surgical snoring treatment to help provide relief for snoring sufferers. In the first instance you will be required to attend a consultation with our Consultant ENT (Ear Nose and Throat) surgeon FRCS. After filling in a few questionnaires to identify the severity of the problem, he will then examine your airway including the nose and mouth to identify the cause of snoring. Non surgical and surgical options will be discussed with you.
If you would like to attend a free initial consultation with our Consultant ENT Surgeon, then please feel free to contact the clinic and we will arrange a convenient appointment.
Surgery for snoring involves either trimming part of the soft palate or induce fibrosis to make the palate firmer rather than redundant.
The procedure takes around 30 minutes and can be done either under local or general anaesthetic through the mouth.
Oakdin Surgical TeamThroughout the entire operation you will be in the safe hands of our surgical team. Our team comprises:
A highly skilled surgeon, who specialises in snoring. Experience in this type of surgery is paramount to our success rate and allows possible complications to be expertly dealt with.
A Consultant Anaesthetist is present throughout the procedure and specifically monitors pain control, the patient's blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturations and ECG tracing, all of which is essential for the safety of the patient.
Our theatre nurse is a fully registered trained nurse. She is very experienced at putting patients at ease and ensuring the smooth running of the entire procedure.
Radiofrequency ablation: This is a new technique in which fibrosis is produced in the soft tissue of the palate. When it heals, it shrinks the surrounding tissues which create more space for breathing, thus controlling snoring.
Laser Surgery: The Laser beam acts as a sharp accurate knife to remove the excess tissues from the palate.
The most suitable method for you will be decided at the time of the consultation
After the procedure you can usually go home, you will not need to stay overnight. If you are travelling a long distance then we will be more than happy to arrange nearby accommodation.
